Registration and services

Services de la BMCThe BMC is a community library. It is open to all, young and old. It serves a large public coming from different communes of the borough of Port-au-Prince, but especially the inhabitants of Carrefour-Feuilles and neighboring districts.Registration is required to access the library premises, borrow documents and benefit from all other services.

Conditions of registration: Annual registration on presentation of a valid ID, proof of housing, registration fees and parental authorization for children under 10 years of age.

Registration fees: Children (4-11 years): 50 Haitian gourdes (HTG); Youth (12-18 years): 100 HTG; Adults (over 18 years) 150 HTG. 

Other Prices: Internet browsing 5 HTG / 15 minutes. Black and White Print 5 HTG / page. Printing Color 15 HTG / page. Digitization 5 HTG / page.  


Since 2008, the catalog and the management system are computerized through the free software PMB. Due to the difficulty of having a stable internet service, the BMC catalog is not yet online.

Lending of documents is free of charge upon presentation of the valid membership card. Each member is entitled to two books for two weeks.
On-site consultation provides access to books, magazines, encyclopedias and CD-ROMs. Other services include:

  • Training in the use of the OPAC, access point to the computerized catalog to search for documents or reserve books.
  • Photocopy of documents at competitive prices.
  • Internet browsing,
  • Scanning and printing

Activities include exhibits, lectures, film screenings, story time, children's activities, public readings, theater and plastic arts workshops, games etc.
